The holiday season is officially here – a season of thanks, giving, merriment, and, of course, shopping. Here at Clinton County Port Authority, we’re partnering with local businesses, the Wilmington-Clinton County Chamber of Commerce, and Main Street Wilmington to support a holiday season that fosters economic growth and the empowerment of local businesses.

Small Business Saturday and the HomeTown HoliDazzle Parade: November 25th

It’s “snow” coincidence that Small Business Saturday, a national movement to encourage shopping local, and the HomeTown HoliDazzle Parade fall on the same day. You can spend the day shopping at our local businesses, and then go right into an evening of parading, lights, decor, and of course, Santa Claus. Downtown properties are also asked to participate in a decorating contest, which is judged on Friday, November 24th.

$25 Days of Christmas is here!

For 15 years, the Wilmington-Clinton County Chamber of Commerce has organized the $25 Days of Christmas, generating thousands of dollars’ worth of local spending. The program encourages shoppers to support our local business community throughout the holiday season and all year round.

From November 24th through December 15th, each time a customer spends more than $25 at a participating Local First business, they’ll be entered into a weekly drawing for donated gifts, giftcards, and cash prizes. Customers can receive up to four entries per drawing. Drawings will be held December 1st, 8th, and 15th. Throughout the holiday season, Santa’s elves will also be giving away additional cash prizes to random local shoppers – so watch the Local First Facebook page for tips on where they might show up!

How can you support local businesses?

Shopping small can be as easy as picking up a holiday table centerpiece from Swindler & Sons Florist, picking out an outfit at Everyday Chic Boutique, grabbing a pizza at Kava Haus, or seeing a show at The Murphy Theatre. You can go the extra mile and write an online review for these businesses and share your interest on social media. Your business and support helps build the local economy and grow the community.

How we support local businesses

Supporting the development of local businesses is something the Clinton County Port Authority does all year round. Our partnership with the Ohio Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Miami Regionals offers existing local businesses and entrepreneurs, as well as aspiring business owners and entrepreneurs, assistance with strategic planning, marketing, and gaining access to financial capital.

The SBDC at Miami Regionals is the only Center to win awards from the Ohio SBDC in all economic development categories for the last two years, and the first ever to win economic development impact categories and Center of the Year in the same year. We are proud of the prestigious work of our partners as they help to build a vibrant, prosperous, and growing community.
